Consider the first amendment of the US Constitution:

First Amendment - Religion and Expression
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

What obligations does this amendment impose on government in the US and its relationship with religion generally?

Consider Section 116 of the 1900 Act to constitute the Commonwealth of Australia (Australian Constitution):
“The Commonwealth of Australia shall not make any law establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.”
